THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF LEGAL INFORMATION The official publication of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) PUBLICATION AGREEMENT TO: RE: We are pleased to publish your work in the International Journal of Legal Information, the official publication of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL). The purpose of this agreement is to clarify the terms of publication. 1. Under the United States Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 201(c), the International Journal of Legal Information acquires the privilege of reproducing and distributing your contribution as part of the issue of the Journal in which it appears. To protect the International Journal of Legal Information, a notice of copyright is placed in each issue. Unless expressly transferred, all other rights remain with the author. Please see paragraphs 4 and 5 below. We will place notice of the author’s copyright in the following form on the work: © [Year Author’s name]. Copyright registration is the author’s responsibility. 2. By this agreement, the author warrants that the contribution is the author’s original work, does not infringe on any subsisting copyrights, and has not been previously published in whole or in part elsewhere. If the work has been previously published elsewhere, the author has obtained permission for its publication in the International Journal of Legal Information and will supply proof of that permission to the Journal. 3. If the author reprints or republishes the article in the future, the author agrees to provide notification of its original publication in the International Journal of Legal Information. 4. The author further agrees to the following policy on photocopying for educational purposes, which is published in each issue of the International Journal of Legal Information. All contributions are © 2001 by the International Association of Law Libraries, except where otherwise expressly indicated. The author of each article in this issue, unless otherwise clearly stated, has granted permission for copies of that article to be made for library or classroom use or for any other educational purposes, provided that (1) copies are distributed at or below cost, (2) author and Journal are identified, and (3) proper notice of copyright is affixed to each copy. For works in which it holds copyright, the International Association of Law Libraries grants permission for copies to be made for educational purposes under the same conditions. 5. The author gives permission to the International Journal of Legal Information to reproduce, adapt, publicly distribute and display the copyrighted work, directly or by means of a third party information provider, in electronic media, computerized retrieval systems, and other formats; such authorization includes use of the work anywhere by means of public display, conversion to machine readable form, and reproduction and distribution of copies. 6. This agreement shall become effective when signed by the author. If the above terms are satisfactory, please sign and date this agreement and return a copy to the Journal’s editorial office.
