Author/Law Review Agreement Suffolk Transnational Law Review
This agreement between (“Author”) and Suffolk Transnational Law Review (“TLR”) governs Author’s Manuscript (“Work”), tentatively scheduled for publication in Volume , Issue of the TLR.
1. Submission, Editing & Publication
a. Author agrees to write and submit a publishable version of the Work to the TLR by . This date is subject to change by agreement between the Author and TLR. The submission will be sent electronically to, Chief Managing Editor, at .
b. Author authorizes the TLR to edit and revise the Work prior to publication in the TLR; however, the TLR will not publish the Work unless the final form is acceptable to both the Author and the TLR.
2. Author’s Grant of Rights
a. Author grants to TLR, its successors and assigns, a non- exclusive, perpetual license:
(i) To publish the Work in TLR;
(ii) To authorize the reproduction, adaptation, public distribution, and public display of the Work as a contribution to TLR in all electronic media, computerized retrieval systems, third-party online legal information providers, such as, but not limited to, LEXIS-NEXIS and Westlaw, and other similar forms. Such authorization includes the use of the Work anywhere in the world by means of public display, conversion to machine-readable form and reproduction and distribution of copies;
(iii) To authorize the reproduction and distribution of the Work by teachers in educational institutions for classroom use;
(iv) To authorize the republication of excerpts from the Work of the Work in full for use in formally published course books, textbooks, and treatises.
b. Author grants the above rights without claim of royalties or other compensation.
3. Author’s Copyright and Reservation of Right
a. Author retains copyright of the Work.
b. Except as provided in Paragraph 3(a), Author retains all rights to the Work not specifically granted to TLR herein. Such rights are reserved in all languages, forms, and media throughout the world.
c. Author retains the right to include the Work, in whole or part, in another work of which Author is the sole or joint author or editor, provided that in either circumstance Author may not submit a work for publication that is substantially the same as the Work to another periodical without the permission of the Journal sooner than (1) year after publication of the Work or two (2) years after the execution of this Agreement, whichever is sooner, and provided that such Work identifies the Author, TLR, the volume, the number of the first page (once known), and the year of the Work’s publication in the TLR.
d. Author retains the right to post the Work, in whole or in part, on an Internet or Intranet site over which the Author has effective control or which is maintained by a third-party online legal information provider, provided that such Work identifies the Author, TLR, the volume, the number of the first page (once known), and the year of the Work’s publication in the TLR.
4. Author’s Warranties & Undertakings
a. Author warrants the following:
(i) Author is the sole (joint) author of the work and has the power to convey the rights granted in this Agreement.
(ii) The Work has not been previously published, in whole or in part, in print or electronically on a publicly accessible Web site, except as follows:
(iii) The Work does not infringe the copyright or property right of another; and
(iv) To the best of Author’s knowledge, the Work does not contain matter that is defamatory, violates another’s civil right, right of privacy, right of publicity or other legal right, or is otherwise unlawful.
b. If the Work reproduces any textual or graphic material that is the property of another for which permission is required, the Author shall obtain written consent for reproduction and provide the TLR with a copy.
5. Modifications & Additions
Any modifications of or additions to the terms of this Agreement shall be in writing.

SUFFOLK TRANSNATIONAL LAW REVIEW SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL GRANT OF LICENSE
I, _______ (hereinafter “Licensor”), grant to the Suffolk Transnational Law Review (hereinafter “Licensee”), its successors and assigns, a non-exclusive, perpetual license:
(a) to publish Title To-Be-Determined (hereinafter “the Work”) in Volume , Issue , of the Suffolk Transnational Law Review.
(b) to edit the Work to suit the Licensee’s requirements, subject to final review and approval by Licensor:
(c) to authorize the reproduction, adaptation, public distribution, an public display of the Work as a contribution to the Suffolk Transnational Law Review in all electronic media, computerized retrieval systems and similar forms. Such authorization includes the use of the Work anywhere in the world by means of public display, conversion to machine- readable form and reproduction and distribution of copies;
(d) to authorize the photocopying of the Work by teachers in educational institutions, for use in course materials distributed to their students; and
(e) to authorize the republication of excerpts from the Work or of the Work in full for use in formally published course books, textbooks, and treatises.
The Licensor retains all rights to the Work not specifically granted to the Licensee herein. Such rights are reserved in all languages, forms, and media throughout the world.
